We are delighted to share that 2 91ÖÆƬ³§ groups were winners at SciFest 2026 and have progressed to the National Finals. 4th Years Tavishi Mishra, Palak Rudraki, and Leo Zihan Xu won the Boston Scientific Medical Devices award for their project. 6th Year students Conor O’Neill and Alexander Vysotski were runners-up for their project. We wish them the very best of luck at Nationals!

Congratulations to 91ÖÆƬ³§ students Catherine McElroy, Keelin O’Donovan, Alexa Murphy and Clodagh Gray who won the Leinster Rugby Metro League with their team The Panthers!

Well done to 6th Year student Nayan Levy who has been accepted onto the Trumpet Performance degree at the world-renowned Conservatorium van Amsterdam. We wish him the very best of luck in this exciting next chapter!

Three of our 5th Year Mandarin students Xingjian Cao, Fiona Weng, and Eva Ruixin Chen successfully qualified for the Global Final of the 9th Global Chinese Recitation Competition. Two of our 6th Year students Stella Wei and Yutong Li achieved outstanding success in the World Chines Essay Competition. This is a prestigious international competition attracting entries from more than 30 countries. Well done everyone!

The UCAS application portal opened last week for anyone intending to study in the UK next year. The early closing date for Medicine, Dentistry and Ventinary courses and any courses in Oxford and Cambridge is 15th October, 2026. The final internal deadline for 91ÖÆƬ³§ students to have completed their application is 25th September 2026.

Any student who wishes to study Medicine or Dentistry in the UK from September 2027 is required to sit the UCAT later this Summer. Registration opens at 2pm on Wednesday, 20th May.

It’s Week 32 of The Buzz Newsletter, & we hope you had a wonderful weekend! Starting the week off strong, lets congratulate our 3 speed-cubing competitors: 4th year William Carey & 6th years Namun Natsagdorj & Prabhav Rajaram Nayak for their achievements. Speed-cubing is a competitive sport where the aim is to solve a Rubik’s cube as fast as possible. There are multiple variations of puzzles held at the official World Cube association (WCA). The 3 of them have gathered over 70+ podiums each and have been competing since 2019, having great success in the past few months.

Namuun Natsagdorj:

• Won overall female of the 3×3 champion at the Irish championships
• Achieved a 2.88 National record single for “clock”

Prabhav Rajaram Nayak:Ìý

• Runner-up in “Mega-minx”
• Achieved a 30.75 National Record average for “mega-minx”

William Carey:Ìý

• Is the Irish champion for “Skewb”
• Achieved a 2.39 National record average for “Skewb”

Another congratulations is in order to 5th year Genevieve Morrisey & 4th year Aisling Lawlor, who have both been selected for the U19 Irish Cricket Team. The girls have been training 4 times per week & going to camps in preparation for tours this summer, & for the U19 world cup in January of 2027. It takes a lot of dedication, commitment and motivation to compete at this level, & we wish them the best of luck in their upcoming cricket competitions this summer!

4th Year Spotlights:Ìý

As our 4th year term comes to it’s end, we’ve been overwhelmed with a massive amount of achievements this year- too many to capture fully in time for this Buzz, but all deserving the utmost recognition and congratulations.

Well done to the following:

• Sarah McCormick for receiving work experience with the Irish Times after winning 2nd place at Irish Young Journalist Awards
• Radu Pamfil for participating in the Romanian National Championships, he performed very well considering the amount of well-known swimmers at the event
• Emilia AherneÌýfor competing in the Athy Duathlon
• Kate McConnell coming 2nd in the Woodbrook Inters golf competition
• Katie Zheng who’s essay made it to the final of the Grainne O’Neil Legal essay competition & who’s science project won 1st in the John Hooper Statistical Poster Competition 2026, now meaning that Kate is eligible to enter the European Statistics Poster Competition.

It’s Week 31 of The Buzz Newsletter, & we hope you all had a lovely long bank holiday weekend! It appears that with another week, another congratulations is in order! Our rowing team represented the 91ÖÆƬ³§ at the School’s Regatta 2026 on the 26th April at O’Brien’s Bridge. 6th year Elle Brady & 5th Year Audrey O’Sullivan came 2nd in the Women’s U23 Pair & placed 3rd nationally, & fellow 5th year Siun Mc Carthy placed 17th nationally in Women’s U23 singles. The schools Regatta serves as an important stepping stone for athletes aiming to progress into senior club rowing.

Another well done is in order to 6th year Niamh Sheehan, who is the winner of the 91ÖÆƬ³§’s annual photo competition: Random Acts of Wildness. This is a nature engagement challenge run in Spring to encourage students to go outside and take pictures of anything that grabs their attention. While we all know the benefits of going outside, sometimes we just need a little bit of motivation to do so, & thanks to everyone who entered.

It’s Week 30 of The Buzz Newsletter! As always, we hope you all had a super weekend! This year’s 91ÖÆƬ³§ 2026 5th year essay writing competition was a fierce one with many entries and tough competition! A variety of prompts were given to the students to get their imaginations going, and they showed an impressive amount of creativity, innovation and skill, all of which impressed our external judge! We’d like to say a huge thank you to Emma Grealy who organized this years tournament, and a well done to all participating students.

Our 91ÖÆƬ³§ Boys’ Team played their 1st ever game last week and excelled, defeating St Gerard’s of Bray on Tuesday 14th April, lead by 5th year Saketh Barad starring with the bat and reaching an unbeaten 50, along with Yash Varadharajan the pick of the bowlers with 4 wickets. Following this victory, on Thursday 16th we achieved another win lead by 6th year Japnoor Singh & Saketh, resulting in a 10-wicket victory! Tomorrow we play St Mary’s in a league decider, the winners reaching the semi- final, we wish our team the best of luck!

Congratulations to our students, who have secured us a national record of 15 gold medals in The Young Economist competition this year! Our students will now advance to the National Final at O’Reilly Hall, UCD on Tuesday the 5th.

Another congratulations is in order for our 4th year student Sarah McCormick, who has won an award in the features category of the Young Journalist Ireland 2026! the judges were highly impressed by her article on euthanasia, and she deserves all the recognition she is receiving. thus category of the competition was amongst the most competitive, and for Sarah to receive 3rd place is a huge testament to her dedication.

It’s Week 28 of The Buzz Newsletter! We hope you all had a nice and relaxing Easter break! congratulations to 5th Year student Maria Malas who represented The 91ÖÆƬ³§ in the Qatar Foundation International’s (QFI) Arabic Speaking Competition, where she competed against students from all over the world. We are extremely proud to share that Maria was awarded 1st place overall in this highly competitive international event. This is an outstanding achievement and reflects her exceptional dedication, talent and hard work. Well done Maria!

At the end of March, we had our final game of this year’s Leinster Schools Chess League. The 91ÖÆƬ³§ team performed so well that they will be promoted into the next division of the league. This is the first year in the league and many of our students only embarked on competitive chess this year!

The 91ÖÆƬ³§ had 8 swimmers representing the school at the Irish Senior Schools Relay Championships recently, taking home two golds and two silver medals. A fantastic day for all our swimmers – your hard work, early morning training, and dedication have truly paid off!

Congratulations to 6th Year student Brian Carroll won the best individual speaker award at the Leinster Debating Finals on Tuesday 10th March in Trinity College Dublin. Congratulations to all our debaters, and especially to Julie Diskin, Anthony Cheny, and Katie Zhang, who were outstanding at the finals.

Congratulations to 6th Year students Clodagh Hogan and Jocelyn Hanks who were selected for the Dublin Minor A Camogie team this year. Their next match is on Saturday, 28th March against Limerick, we wish them the very best of luck!

A big thank you to our wonderful 4th Year students who volunteered for Daffodil Day last Friday, raising funds for the incredibly important work of the Irish Cancer Society.

It’s Week 26 of The Buzz Newsletter! Congratulations to our Sailing team who came 2nd in the Irish Schools Sailing Leinster Championships on Sunday 8th March. Well done to the team of Brian Carroll, Ben Moreau, Sean Cronin, Peter Kenny, Kate Kenny and Zita Tempany.

The MUN community at The 91ÖÆƬ³§ continues to thrive. A group of our students set out to Clontarf for the inaugural Holy Faith Model United Nations. Students were challenged to represent their assigned countries across a wide variety of topics. The event culminated in the General Assembly in which all the delegates reconvene for a final round of rhetoric and voting. The 91ÖÆƬ³§ came away with 6 awards in this session. Well done everyone!

It’s Week 25 of The Buzz Newsletter! We are delighted to share that our students won the IMTA Team Maths Dublin Regional Final, held on 5th March at Alexandra College. Our winning team of Tianci Yan, Kent Liu, Justin Li and Shiqing Zhang have now qualified for the national finals, taking place on Saturday 25th April. Congratulations also to our three other teams who also performed very well, finishing 5th, joint 5th, and 8th. Due to their high scores int he regional competition, some of these teams may also qualify for the finals in April. Sincere thanks to Oliver Murphy for coordinating and accompanying the teams, and best of luck to everyone competing in the national finals.

Congratulations to our Robotics Club who qualified for the VEX V5 Robotics Ireland, held in MTU Cork on 24th February. Alec Vysotski, Conor O’Neill, Sutlej Suresh, Jennifer Zhang, and Mark Fedorenko have been building their robot since September. Throughout the process they gained valuable hands-on experience in both mechanical engineering and coding as they designed, built, and programmed a fully functional robot. Well done to our students, and to our robotics mentor Adam Goodwin for their hard work, dedication, and excellent representation of the school at national level.

Best wishes to our 6th Years who are sitting the Medical Selection Admission Test (MSAT) test in UL campuses over two weekends.

The deadline for the submission of portfolios for IADT courses requiring a portfolio is Tuesday 10th March at 10am.

There are a number of college Open Days taking place in the coming weeks; UG, DCU, MU and TUD.. There is a mini open day in RSCI over the Easter break on Tuesday March 31st. Registration is required in advance.

It’s Week 24 of The Buzz Newsletter! Congratulations to all of our debaters who have qualified for the Oxford and Cambridge debates. 5th Year Aneesh Garg and 4th Year Katie Zheng qualified for the Oxford debates on 14th March. Katie also qualified for the Cambridge debates with 5th Year Julie Diskin. We also had seven students progress to the semi-finals of the Leinster Schools Debates. A special thank you to David Connolly who runs the Debating Club for his invaluable guidance and support. Well done all and best of luck in the finals!

The RCSI 4th Year MiniMed, MiniDentistry, MiniPharm, MiniFutureScientist and MiniPhysio programmes take place annually, and offer 4th year students an excellent opportunity to gain experience of what it is like to train and work as a healthcare professional. Registration is required to attend these sessions, please contact or pop into the 4th Year office to register.

It’s Week 23 of The Buzz Newsletter! Congratulations to all of our swimmers who qualified for this year’s Leinster Senior Schools Swimming Championships held on 8th February. 91ÖÆƬ³§ swimmers took home the overall cup plus 4 Gold, 4 Silver, and 4 Bronze medals. Our relay swimmers have now qualified for the Irish Senior Schools Relay Championship on 22nd March in the National Aquatics Centre. We wish them the very best of luck!

Congratulations to 5th Year student Sumeia Lloyd who was selected for the U18 Ireland All Stars Indoor Hockey team. Sumeia recently travelled to Cape Town to represent Ireland and compete in the PSI Nationals – the world’s largest indoor hockey tournament. We wish Sumeia the very best of luck in her future sporting endeavours!

Congratulations to 6th year student Kiril Korostelev and 4th Year student Krithika Santosh who progressed to the finals of the All Ireland Linguistics Olympiad. 940 students from 89 schools in 27 counties took part. The top 100 students are invited to the final in DCU in early March, from which four students will go on to represent Ireland at the International Linguistics Olympiad in Bucharest. We wish them the very best of luck in the finals.

Section A on the DARE applications must be completed and submitted by the 1st March.

It’s Week 22 of The Buzz Newsletter! Congratulations to 6th Year student Samaira Ahluwalia, who received the Division 4 Top Bowling Award in recognition of her outstanding performances during the 2025 cricket season. Samaira had an outstanding season, taking 26 wickets across 16 matches to finish well clear of the rest of the league. We wish Samaira the very best of luck in all her sporting endeavours!

We currently have nine 4th years taking part in the 10 week ‘Accenture Girls in Analytics’ programme. the data analytics programme launched on Friday 1th January and culminates with a competition where our students present their research in their teams. We wish them the very best of luck with the programme and look forward to hearing about their experience.

With the Mock exams starting today we would like to wish the best of luck to all our 6th Years. Remember, you have been preparing for this moment for years, trust the work you have put in.

4th & 5th Years enjoy your Midterm break next week, it’s well deserved! It’s a chance to rest and renew your energy, take breaks and recharge. A fantastic itinerary has been planned for the 4th Year trip to Rome – enjoy!

The normal closing date for CAO applications has now passed. In case you missed the closing date the late application facility opens on 5th March t 12pm. A fee of €65 applies.
